INTI’s “Raya Untuk Semua” Brings Community Together in Nilai

April 2, 2026

INTI brought back its “Raya Untuk Semua” initiative this year to support underprivileged families in the Nilai community, with contributions coming from across different groups in the lead-up to Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Now in its second year since its introduction in 2025, the initiative forms part of INTI International University’s University Social Responsibility (USR) efforts. It is carried out in collaboration with Masjid Dato’ Klana Petra Undang Luak Sungai Ujong, Nilai, and the Nilai Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK), focusing on supporting individuals and families in the surrounding community.

A symbolic handover of clothing donations under the “Raya Untuk Semua” initiative took place on 13 March 2026, led by INTI’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Operations), Professor Dr Shamsul Nahar Abdullah, together with Imam Andi Mohamad Zulfauzan B. Muhamad of Masjid Dato’ Klana Petra Undang Luak Sungai Ujong, Nilai, in the presence of mosque committee members and INTI volunteers.

In the weeks leading up to the event, hundreds of clothing items were collected as part of the initiative. Contributions first came from within INTI before extending to nearby neighbourhoods and further afield, including Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Johor.

Over three weeks, traditional attire such as Baju Kurung, Baju Melayu, jubahs, kurtas and hijabs were sorted by INTI’s PR & Corporate Communications team. Each item was checked to ensure it was clean and in good condition, then organised to allow for a more balanced selection.

The distribution took place from 13 to 15 March 2026 at Masjid Dato’ Klana Petra Undang Luak Sungai Ujong and the Nilai community centre, with support from INTI staff, international mobility students, and members of the JPKK committee.

Clothing items were displayed on racks during the first distribution at Masjid Dato’ Klana Petra Undang Luak Sungai Ujong, Nilai, allowing recipients to browse and select items that suited them.

This year, instead of being packed in plastic, the clothing was displayed on racks at both venues, allowing families to browse and select items more easily.

This made the process more straightforward. Recipients could view the options at a glance without opening individual packages, making the experience more comfortable and accessible.
The programme also brought in international mobility students. For many, it was their first time participating in a Ramadan outreach initiative in Malaysia, offering a closer look at how communities come together during the festive season.

“Honestly, it was a pleasure to be part of this. Huge thanks to the team for the hard work! I’m so glad to see the programme turn out so well,” said Wa Ode Farah Amorily, an Indonesian mobility student pursuing a Bachelor of Media and Communication.

Volunteers from INTI and members of the JPKK committee supported the distribution at the Nilai community centre, assisting with the clothing displays and helping recipients throughout the process.

Her fellow volunteer, Fiona Alifah Damayanti, also from Indonesia, hopes to take part again.
“Hopefully, if there is another opportunity, I can join more volunteer programmes again,” she said.
For community partners, the scale of the response stood out. Nilai JPKK Chairman, Mr Affa Faizal bin Isa, said the collaboration helped extend the initiative’s reach.

“We are truly grateful for the collaboration with INTI. It enabled us to reach a wider community and distribute donations more effectively. This is also the highest volume of contributions we have received for the initiative, and we look forward to more collaborations in the future,” he said.

The initiative brought together contributions from different groups, including donors, volunteers, and community partners, each playing a part in helping others prepare for Hari Raya.
